[Solved] Windows 8 Reporting

Is Telerik reporting currently supported in Windows Modern UI?  I want to create an app that requires the printing of labels, which I was thinking on using Telerik Reporting for. Is that possible?

Yes it is. The UI of your reports however is entirely up to you :)

Can you give me an example of how I would do this?  I imported the Telerik.Reporting.dll but when I build I get "Cannot find type System.ComponentModel.Component in module System.dll". 



I'm not worried about the design aspect of it.. I just want to pass some parameters into a pre-designed report and print it.

Alright to anyone else trying to use it, I just had to change the 'Copy Local = True' on the Telerik.Reporting reference to get a successful build.  Let you know if anything else comes up.

So I'm not sure if this is the proper place for this thread anymore as it's getting more technical into the Reporting side of things, but here goes. 

I was able to bring in the Telerik.Reporting as mentioned, and I tried to go through and make a Report programmatically, but somewhere along the way I started getting errors, so I commented my report code out, and now I'm getting the same error as above (system.componentmodel...)... so that's back.  Also, when trying to create a new report I would get weird errors like:



Error 1 The base class or interface 'ߔ' in assembly 'ttribute' referenced by type 'Telerik.Reporting.IReportDocument' could not be resolved c:\Program Files (x86)\Telerik\Reporting Q2 2012\Bin\Telerik.Reporting.dll AX_Receiving

OR

Error 1 The base class or interface 'À類τ榯ĖÀ礼τ類τ塚τÀꤰÀڼ؀礼τ類τ' in assembly 'ǀšड़šक़š瞸͟ꇌÀ﵋瞝' referenced by type 'Telerik.Reporting.IReportDocument' could not be resolved c:\Program Files (x86)\Telerik\Reporting Q2 2012\Bin\Telerik.Reporting.dll AX_Receiving



Also digging a bit deeper, I will run into problems trying to Print as well.  In Telerik.Reporting.ReportProcessor there are two methods, Print and PrintReport which both take 2 parameters: A Telerik.Reporting.IReportDocument, and a System.Drawing.Printing.PrinterSettings object. 



This no longer exists in Windows Modern UI applications.  There is now a PrintManager, PrintTask, etc. in WIndows.Graphics.Printing, among other major changes.  So I guess that leaves me at... you say it's possible to use Telerik Reporting with Win8, so I'd love to see exactly how as it currently eludes me.

Hi,

Telerik Reporting engine is build against .net framework 2.0 and is currently not compliant with the .NET for Windows Store apps which provides a different subset of managed types.

We use Reporting heavily in WPF, WinForm, and ASP.NET projects and now have a need for it to work in a windows store app.

We do not have a time frame for this yet and when we start working on it, the product Roadmap would be updated with more information, so keep an eye on it.
