I have multiple projects for different clients using Telerik controls and each often use different versions of RadControls, all are currently in Silverlight 4.

I have a new project and would like to use the Diagramming controls however I realise this requires Silverlight 5, and using the new control panel installer it will remove my older versions, which is unacceptable as I still need to be able to work on the previous projects at varying times. It is not possible to upgrade every project as most clients are not ready to use Silverlight 5 yet not to mention it would require a lot of time, effort, money.

If I cannot run different versions side-by-side then Telerik will no longer be suitable for our needs and we will look elsewhere. Please advise if there is a way to get around this.

Hi Brendan,

Thanks for writing.

Currently, the Control Panel removes all previous versions of a product. This could be changed by opening the TelerikControlPanel.exe.config (by default the Control Panel is installed under C:\Program Files (x86)\Telerik\Control Panel) and changing the following entry:
<add key="KeepPreviousParallelVersions" value="false"/> to
<add key="KeepPreviousParallelVersions" value="true"/>

Please, keep in mind that only versions from different releases could exist in parallel, i.e. if you have 2012.2.607 it will be upgraded to 2012.2.724.

Let me know if any further questions arise.

Kind regards,
Chavdar,

You have to complete the install process to get access to the file to make the modification to keep the older versions?
Is there any other choice do I have while installing to keep the older versions untouched?
Thanks

Hi,

We have implemented an option in the Telerik Control Panel options menu (see attached file).

In order the keep the old versions untouched, you need to check the 'KEEP PREVIOUS PARALLEL VERSIONS'.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

All the best,

I'm working on a project that requires an older version of Rad Controls, how do we get a specific version of an extension via the control panel?  Thanks!

Hi Brendan,

At this state the Telerik Control Panel does not provide option for installing an older versions of the Telerik products. You can use the offline msi installer that we provide for our products. The following steps will help you to find all older versions of the RadControls for Silverlight available for your account:
  1. Log in into your Telerik account
  2. Click on the Trial downloads menu item in the Products & Subscriptions menu
  3. Click on the Download link in the RadControls for Silverlight product section
  4. On the right of the page click on the All product versions link
  5. From the product versions list choose and click on it
  6. Download the Automatic installation (.msi) file

Please let us know in case you have any further questions.
