[Solved] WebUI Test Studio: a technical problem

Hi,

I just downloaded the trial version of the WebUI Test Studio since we are considering the switch from SilkTest to this.
I have installed it on a machine with Windows 7 and Visual Studio Team System 2008.

When trying to add a new WebAii Test to my project I get a:

The assembly reference "ArtOfTest.WebAii.Design, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=4fc62bbc3287ab1d" could not be added to the project.

Any idea what I have done wrong?

Hello Chriztian,

I'm currently running through some tests with the latest WebUI build on Windows 7 and haven't found anything yet, but I'll continue trying. Was a WebAii test actually created and added to the project, and if so, was clicking on it and recording working as in these tutorial videos for WebUI?

You can add the ArtOfTest.WebAii.Design reference manually to your project if the WebAii test is responding normally.

Hi,

I downloaded the previous trial version (from february) and it works fine.
I am trying to figure out how well the WebUI recognizes the elements in the backend of our CMS system and it seems to do well.
Am I missing important features from the february to the september version?

Hi Chriztian,

There are mostly fixes and minor improvements in WebUI Test Studio in the recent releases. You can check the full release history of the product here.

As to the new major features, they will come with the WebUI Test Studio v2.0 we're preparing for the next Q3 release (early November, 2009). This feature comparison table lists the major features planned for the new version.

Hi,

The developers here are pretty impressed by the product. Main thing that I cant seem to figure out:

We use quite a lot of context-sensitive menus in our system. Are the recorder able to record right-clicks on items? I can only get it to record left-clicks...

Hello again Chriztian,

Thank you for your compliments towards WebUI, it's appreciated. I'll continue checking out the Windows 7 issue with the latest build.

You can record a right click by highlighting the element, then right click and select Desktop Actions -> Right Click -> Specific Point. You can then hover over a specific point on the highlighted element and a crosshairs will appear where you can specifiy the location of the right click on the element.

If your context menus do not appear in the recorder in Visual Studio, please try recording on the stand alone IE instance of the recorder by clicking on the globe icon in the upper left hand corner of the VS hosted recorder window.

Let me update this thread as well in regards to the initial problem reported here. The latest internal build we uploaded today resolves the problem. The build is accessible for everyone who has downloaded the latest official release corresponding to the 2009 Q2 SP2. Here is a direct link to the internal build:
