Very Interesting Development

This is very interesting to us, because we have actually been switching out Telerik controls and replacing them with jQuery UI and other jQuery based widgets.  Not because we don't like Telerik controls (we liked them a lot), but because we really don’t like the MS ajax and the whole ASP.NET postback/viewstate mess. 

It’s quite a bit of work for us to write back end .NET objects to match the various jQuery UI components, and we would rather pay Telerik to do all that for us.

Questions – does it require MVC?  Does it require the MS ajax library?

Telerik Extensions for ASP.NET MVC require the ASP.NET MVC runtime to be installed. It refers to the System.Web.Mvc.dll assembly. However it does not depend on ASP.NET Ajax in any way. The components do not need a ScriptManager control and do not include the ASP.NET Ajax client-side library.

But does it heavily depends on jQuery or the Telerik will reinvent the wheel of creating thier own proprietary javascripts. I hope they focus and use jQuery and just do additional if jquery does not supports it.

Our JavaScript code will be based entirely on jQuery. Of course where we will extend it to meet our requirements.
