We have enjoyed using the new ChartView control, it is a large improvement over the previous chart control. Now we are trying to replicate some of the functionality we had. Specifically we are looking to display solid vertical lines in the chart. Previously we could do something like the following

<telerik:ChartArea.Annotations>
      <telerik:CustomGridLine XIntercept="{Binding CurrentValue}"
                Visibility="Visible"
                Stroke="LightGreen"
                StrokeThickness="1"/>
</telerik:ChartArea.Annotations>

How can we replicate this functionality in the ChartView Control?
Thanks!

Hi Geoffrey,

Currently annotations are not supported with RadChartView. However our developers have considered this feature and it will be made for one of our future releases, most probably Q2 2012.Unfortunately I can't provide you with any workaround at present.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

What is the latest on this?  We are also wanting to put the equivalent of CustomGridLines onto our ChartView.  In our case, we are working with a RadCartesianChart.

Tks.

Hi Geoffrey,

 We are currently working on annotations for the ChartView. Unfortunately we won't be ready for the upcomming release Q2 2012 that will come live in June and our developers decided to postpone the release of the annotations feature.

That is really disappointing. Are there any suggested work arounds to add a "highlighted" region annotation?

If we zoom out a bit...what I am wanting to do is sort of replicate the TimeBar type of functionality but with an x-axis type that is numbers and not dates. Basically I want to stack two plots vertically and have the top chart show all of the data (from 0-32000 x values) and let the user zoom and pan a region of that full graph and see the highlighted section on a large chart below.

Any thoughts?

Thank You,

Dan

Hi Geoffrey,

 Unfortunately there is no work-around for this scenario. The onliest thing I can suggest is that you stay tuned till Q3 2012 when annotations feature is expected to be released.

Kind regards,

Is it possible to preview the feature in nightly builds?

Thanks,

Hello Dan,

 The annotations feature is not implemented yet and our developers are working on it. Currently it is impossible that you can get a preview of it.

Hi, we've run into this issue as well (something as simple as the method to translate grid to absolute coordinates present on the RadChart but not the chart view would allow us to work around this). Any chance this has made it into the nightly builds yet?

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I am afraid we are not able to provide you with a nightly build, containing even close to a final version of the annotations in RadChartView at the moment. Once a beta release is scheduled (probably in mid-September) chart annotations will be included and you will be able to try them.

Hi Geoffrey,

I am afraid we have dropped the plans for Beta release, so you will be able to use the feature with the official 2012 Q3 release, expected within a month. Please, accept my apologies for the misleading information provided in my previous reply.

Ves,

No worries, it's just that we have a demo coming up and adding chart annotations would be a big boost! Any chance that something will show up in the dev builds soon? We're not looking for anything production quality just proof of concept kind of stuff.

Thanks,

Geoff
