Hello Telerik team,
I would like to use the OpenAccess ORM Free Edition for one or more customer projects. I'm the developer of the projects. There are projects/applications which only used within the company of my customer. There are also commercial public ASP.NET MVC applications where  I would like to use the OpenAccess ORM Free Edition.
My customer normally get the full source code of the software I develop for him. But I do not intend to change the source code of the OpenAccess ORM Free Edition, just using it as a replacement for the Entity Framework
The OpenAccess ORM Free Edition is used in a class library (DLL) which is used by the other projects.

Due to the license of the OpenAccess ORM Free Edition, what do I have to do and is there something my has to do, especially according to the commercial public ASP.NET MVC applications?

Must my customer place some information about the use of OpenAccess ORM Free Edition on the website (the ASP.NET MVC applications)?

Thanks Jan

Hi Jan,

There are no restrictions on using Telerik OpenAccess ORM in commercial applications, even in case you are not a holder of a DevCraft license.

The only limitations are coming from the fact that no support contract is included in the Free Edition, which means it would be harder or at least slower to resolve any issues you might experience - although you can still use the online resources and our developer community forums for such matter. I would offer you to consider purchasing a license - the options are described here.

In case you have any questions regarding the OpenAccess ORM capabilities in your particular scenario, do not hesitate to get back to us.

Hi Ivailo,

thanks for your answer.
Technically I'm fully satisfied with the OpenAccess ORM.
In reference to your answer:

My customer does not have to mention that the OpenAccess ORM is used for his web application, doesn't he?

Jan

Hello Jan,

I am glad to hear that OpenAccess is meeting your requirements.

Regarding your concern about mentioning the product in commercial applications - there is no such obligation for the customer.

Regards,

Ivailo
