Hi

I've noticed since using the GridView that I can't seem to use the left and right arrow keys to navigate between cells. Is there a way to enable this behaviour?

Thanks

Andy

Hello Andy,

We are currently working on such functionality and monst probably it will be available in Q2.

In the process of doing this it would be great if methods could be exposed to manually navigate in code.  For example, I wanted to skip over read-only cells when the user presses tab to navigate. It would be nice to be able to easily navigate.

Hi Kiel,

We will for sure expose methods that allow users to navigate programatically. Thanks for your suggestions. Your telerik points have been updated.

Hi, has arrow key navigation been implemented for RadGridView yet? It does not seem to be working by default. Do I have to set some property to enable it (I am currently using Q2 ver 2009_2_1002)?

Hello hwsoderlund,

Currently our arrow key navigation support is not very advanced - it just allows you to change the current/selected item.  We are now working on an improved navigation mechanism which will be introduced with our upcoming Q3 release.

Could you share any specific navigation scenarios/requirements that you would like to see covered in RadGridView?

Kind regards,

Ok, I see. Well, first of all I would like to be able to freely navigate between cells using the up/down/left/right arrow keys. It would be nice to be able to catch pagedown/up, and use that to move back and forth between pages. We only have 20 records per page. As far as editing goes, I really do not need that. We use a master/detail scenario for all data editing. But I guess if I were to use editing, I would like the Enter key to move the cell into edit mode. I would also like to handle row selection with the space bar. One thing that is important to me is to be able to "click" buttons in cells using the space bar or Enter. Also, please take a look at my other post (link below) where I elaborate a bit more on this. The title says accessibility, but it is all about the gridview and navigation.
