Hey,

I tried to use the Upgrade Wizard in VS2010 to upgrade to the latest version of the Silverlight components, but found the settings very confusing.

Please make it possible to just press a big "Upgrade everything to the latest" button and not having to worry what happens with all those checked and unchecked choices :)

Thanks!

Hello Daniel,

The Upgrade Wizard preselects the assemblies your project currently uses. Having that in mind, you could ignore all of the choices regarding assemblies and leave it as it is. It will upgrade all of the assemblies used in your project.

The additional settings concern you if you wish to make use of assemblies, currently not used in your project.

Please, do not hesitate to contact us if any questions arise.

Hey Andrey,

thanks for the quick reply!

So does that mean that if I don`t check all the boxes I`ll end up with different versions of assemblies, depending which one I already used and which one I haven`t used yet?

I ended up just downloading the full installer and running that, but I`m curios to know if the wizard can do a full upgrade, so I don`t have to do it manually next time.

Thanks,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

As you start the wizard, the assemblies your project uses will be pre-checked, the assemblies currently unused will be unchecked. Having that in mind, all of your project references will be upgraded.

Additionally, I believe you will find the following help articles helpful:

Hi Telerik,

Let say I have 20 projects in a solution.
Now what I'm doing is to upgrade each project one by one through telerik upgrade manager in vs 2010 menu.
Is there no way to upgrade whole solution with one click ?
If I missed someting or never known, pls let me know.

TIA
Kang

Hi Daniel,

Your presumption is correct.

While we are thinking over the idea of providing users with a single wizard to go through in order to upgrade entire solutions at a time, using our current implementation, you would have to upgrade your projects one at a time.

We would love to hear any thoughts you might have in regards to a solution-wide upgrade wizard.
