Thank you for contacting us and for your question.

The DataGrid component we are currently working on will visualize data in Tabular format - columns, rows and cells. For its initial version we will probably not support hierarchical views - only Grouping, Sorting and Filtering. We are implementing everything from scratch, making the component touch-centric and Design-first, which will probably lead to relatively small initial set of features but to also fast and fluid performance and User Experience. We will do our best to provide a preview version of the Q1 2013 release by the beginning of February, 2013.

Georgi, thank you for the information. I understand the need to get out the grid and provide addition features on an on-going basis. Could I make a recommendation on a sample program that may provide some temporary alternative to a hierarchy for a Microsoft Store app. In the tabular grid show a button with a + sign or something on each row that when pressed the event code would read the next level of data (lazy loading) and show this data in the next page section with the detail of the previous path(s) also displayed with the ability to hide/show the previous path by button command.
