I CAN'T submit a new ticket or respond to an existing ticket through your Support section on your website as it keeps giving me an error saying "Message cannot be empty".  THIS IS INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING!!!! I have reported this problem before and have received no response on this!!!

Since I can only seem to send in new requests this way, here is our current issue:

We are running Microsoft Visual Studio Coded UI Tests using the UI Automation technology in order to find silverlight controls to build out our tests.  The Telerik controls released in 2010 were working perfectly, but when we upgraded to the most recent 2011 version the Coded UI tests were no longer able to identify the Silverlight controls.

Can somebody please contact me directly so I can contact support through the appropriate channels and get this issue resolved.

Thank You,
-Jarred Froman

Hello Jarred Froman,

The problem with our support section is indeed very odd. Can I ask you to try again submitting a support ticket through different browsers? We tested it on our side and everything works as expected. What makes it really strange that you can post a forum thread which uses the same editor. If the problem persists it will be very useful for us any details you can provide to reproduce the problem.

As for the Coded UI Tests can you send us some more details? Are you facing problems with individual controls or with all of them? Also it would help us if you list the controls which you are using.

We tested it both with IE8, IE9 and Google Chrome with the same behavior.  It has been an on-and-off problem for quite some time and we have been unable to find what causes it.

Regarding the other problem, we found older related postings and this appears to be related to setting the Windowless property on silverlight control.  Is there any timeframe to addressing this issue?

Thanks,
-Jarred

Hello Jarred,

In reference to your questions:
  • About the support ticketing system problem:
Unfortunately I was not able to reproduce the problem but I suppose that the problem is caused by some broken addon installed on your PC(s). This is why I recommend you to reinstall them and try again for some time. Also, you can try by disabling all the addons of the used browser when the problem appears and try to submit the page again.

In case that the problem still appears, could you please provide us with more information about the installed browser addons and plugins? Also, it will be very helpful if you provide example pages (links) where the problem appears.

  • About the Coded UI Tests
    :
Indeed you are right that when the Windowless property is set to 'true', the UI Automation does not work. More information related to this issue may be found here
