After installing test studio express when I use the icon on my desktop visual studio opens a message box telling me i need elevated permissions to access the directory.

On my machine the user I log in with and run programs is not a machine admin, which means I had to use an admin account to install.  I was logged in as my every day user started the install and when it requested permissions the admin account was used to complete installation.  Is this the reason trying to run the test studio express samples I get prompted with the elevation permissions or would this have happened even if my every day user account had permissions to install?

Note: I'l add my local user to have permissions just didn't know if something could be corrected during the installation process.

Thanks.

Hi John,

I am sorry you are running into this problem. I must admit I haven't seen that particular error message before, but we do know that your account is not a member of the local Administrator group on your machine that Test Studio needs you to run Visual Studio as administrator. Please try these directions to see if it solves this problem.

Kind regards,

Thanks for the quick post,  I ended up uninstalling all the Telerik products I had installed and gave my regular account admin privileges and reinstalled. I was having similar issues with the other products not sure if it has to do with parts of the OS that it interacts with our how the security is being applied to the telerik folders and exe.  Not sure if this is the appropriate place for a request but it would be a nice fix to not require the changes you posted or what I chose to do.

Thanks again!

Hello John,

I am glad to hear you were able to resolve your problem!

When you state "it would be a nice fix to not require the changes you posted" do you mean to not require Run-as-administrator on Visual Studio? We agree that would be very nice. We've been trying to solve that very problem for months. It's not easy because of all the security that Microsoft has put into the OS for users that are not in the local Administrator group. All that security blocks us from controlling the browser because it acts like a computer virus.

Just the same we already have a feature request logged on this.

Kind regards,

What you describe to have as an existing feature enhancement request is correct.  I know it's not an easy thing to accomplish it was just a rquest, glad to hear you are already working to address the enhancement!!
