I have just installed the Telerik UI For Xamarin on my VS 2019 for the Mac.

Following the documentation for Getting Started for the Mac.
https://docs.telerik.com/devtools/xamarin/installation-and-deployment/mac/getting-started-mac

I also installed the Project wizard for Visual Studio for the Mac

https://docs.telerik.com/devtools/xamarin/installation-and-deployment/mac/project-wizard

I have been attempting to get the Telerik Toolbox to show up when I click on a XAML file.

I cannot get the Toolbox to show up, yes I have tried searching for the Toolbox and nothing Xamarin related shows up. Yes I can use t he New Project wizard to create a new project.

Once I installed the Telerik Xamarin Add-In extension via the Extension manager. I can no longer open any .xaml or .cs file, well I can open them but the contents are not displayed.

If I disable the Telerik Xamarin Add-In extension and close and re-launch VS for the Mac, I can at least open and see the contents of .xaml and .cs files.

Attached are some pictures with the extension enabled and disabled showing that with it enabled I can't see the contents of files and with it disabled I can.

So how do I correctly install the Telerik Xamarin Add-In?

Hello David,

I was able to reproduce the behavior with the latest version of Visual Studio for Mac (8.1.5) and the latest version of our UI for Xamarin Add-In. It would appear that there is a change made in Visual Studio which has affected our add-in. We will further investigate what caused the issue, so for the time being the only thing I could suggest is to use a earlier version of Visual Studio for Mac

Once we have more details I will get back to you with more information and a release date for the fix if possible. For now I have added 1000 Telerik points to your account for your time and effort reporting this bug.

In case you have any other question, please get back to us.

Hi David,

We were able to identify the source of the problem and it is changes that were made to the Visual Studio Editor API in Visual Studio for Mac. More information on that is available here .We will need some time in order to rework our add-in to use the new APIs and I can not commit to a concrete release date, because we are still to estimate the effort.

In order to use our add-in you will have to install Visual Studio for Mac version prior to 8.1. I apologize for the inconvenience and I'd like to ask for your patience and understanding until we deploy a fix.

Regards,
Nikola
