Let's say a developer designs a report using Telerik Report during development. He then creates a WebService (or using ADO.Net Data Services) to get/set data for SL application. Can we use Telerik report engine on the service side to run a report silently (meaning without direct UI  interaction) to generate pre-defined report and save it as PDF file on the server's folder and when it's completed, it will raise a "Completed" event to client, so the client can call the URL of the PDF file and display that to end user?

If the answer is yes and Telerik has already demonstrated using ADO.Net Data Services with RADTreeView, would it possible to create an online sample to demonstrate this feature using ADO.Net Data Services?

Thank you in advance!

Hello ..Ben,

We consulted with our Reporting team and this scenario is possible. We will setup such sample application after our official release. We have scheduled a couple of other examples before this one. We added it to the list of samples that we will create. We want to have our HtmlPlaceholder control ready before to proceed.

All the best,

Oh man, are you saying that we may not even have to bother with PDF and you can just driectly shoot the output as HTML and then you could show the HTML right inside an SL app? Please say Yes! ;-)

Valentin, I sent you a long email yesterday, hope you got it! :-)

Hi ..Ben,

No! And I'm truly sorry about that :).

It will be just a placeholder that you can use to place any HTML content **above** the silverlight plugin. In this particulare scenario you can set HTML IFRAME and to load the PDF there. The HTMLPlaceholder will manage the size and position of this IFRAME to act as if it were in the Silverlight content.

Thanks for clarification. I think in order to keep the SL app as is, we can always open a new Browser page to show the HTML, rather than *above* the current app. But that's not a show stopper. The main thing is that we can provide report to user!

Thanks!
