I am planning to use the Telerik Grid control for an ASP.NET MVC application. Does the telerik grid control go to the database (to get the data) each time a filter is applied or a search is carried out?

Yes, currently the grid performs a request for the data every time filter is changes, the user goes to a new page etc. The good news is that we plan to introduce in memory data operations (paging, sorting filtering etc) with our upcoming release due in July.
