Hi all,
We are evaluating Telerik at the moment and looking to develop web-based apps (ASP.NET MVC) used by internal staff. We'd also like to know if any of you who have used Telerik to develop internal web-based apps. That would really help in our evaluation process.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Stephen

Many of our clients build Intranet apps with our controls, if this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions about this so that I can loop in the proper product specialist to assist you a bit further here.

Hi Seth,
Our requirement is to be able to develop web apps (that work like desktop or winform apps) that are also accessible on mobile devices. Is it possible to have a look at any of these intranet apps (knowing it may be a bit difficult)? We'd also like to know how others have used Telerik and the pros and cons of it, for example, how using Telerik would speed up our development process, any case study or a paper written up on this would be very helpful.
Thank you.

Stephen
Hi Stephen,
The controls and tools we provide aim at helping developers build their web applications fast and with beautiful UI that comes out of the box. This lets you focus on your application logic and data.
Since each case is unique, there is no singular answer to your question. What I can say is that we have had reports that indicate using our tools saves as much as 50% of the development time for an application. You can find some feedback from clients of ours in the following pages:
- http://www.telerik.com/about/testimonials/aspnet-ajax
Pros and cons are also very dependent on the concrete case and individual. Her are a couple of obvious ones:
- pros: cut down development time; get consistent UI in all supported browsers; get rich features and API out of the box; get customization options to plug your application logic.
- cons: you have to include a third party library in your project; there is some learning curve as with any new tool
As for access to Intranet apps developed by our clients - I am afraid I cannot help with that. Even we at Telerik do not have such access.
