Hi,

I would like to know if the new (04/12/2010) release of Web UI test tool supports Windows XP SP2 OS, and if so, are there any known issues with the testing tool?

I've browsed through your website and it only indicates the compatible browsers for the said test tool. Most inquiries either use Windows Vista or Windows Server 2003/2008, but no specific mention on the Windows XP SP 2 OS.

Also, I have installed Web UI test tool- Developer Edition on my desktop PC. It also has the following softwares installed:
Visual Studio 2008 SP1
Telerik RAD controls

I am a member of the "Administrator" user group. I have configured both IE 7 and FireFox according to the Telerik video . I have also verified that the two Web UI DLL's are installed and enabled in IE 7: these are the Web Aii Test Execution Extension, and WebUI test Studio Recorder.

Here's the problem, I created a new test project with C# as it's default language, and then click the Record button (the red button).
It launches the IE 7.0 as expected. But I could not view the Web UI test toolbar. it's supposed to be visible after clicking the Record button on the Visual Studio 2008 IDE. It also generated some error when I tried to create a record.

Could someone please advise me on how this should be done?

Thanks,

John

Hi John Danny Morales,

Yes, XP is fully supported, though most customers are using SP3 since it's been out for quite a while now. I answer many support tickets from customers using XP. The only caveat is they must be using IE7 or above, which you already confirmed you are using, so no real issue there.

I'd like to look at this problem via a GoToMeeting sometime on Monday. Let me know what timezone you are in and your availability and I'll setup the meeting. I'm in Austin, Texas, which is Central Standard Time.

Hi Cody,

Thanks for your response. Our timezone is GMT+8:00 (Singapore).

I've decided to create some VM machine with the WebUI test tool installed. We'll try to make your product work on the isolated environment using the information available in your site. Hopefully, it would work. Otherwise, we would have to turn to other vendors due to the hassle in implementation.

Regards,

John

Hi John Danny Morales,

I appreciate you pursuing this! I suspect there's something wrong with the install on the original machine you tried, which is why I wanted to inspect it via GoToMeeting. Chances are you will have a much better experience installing it on your VM's if they are clean images.

I will be here ready to assist any way I can in your evaluation.

Sincerely yours,
Cody
