I've been using Icenium for developing apps and love the integrated development environment from development to deployment. Since my team uses Team Foundation Server for all of our projects as source control repository, we don't want to switch to GitHub or BitBucket for Icenium. Can I use TFS as source control with Icenium? If not then, what other folks/developers are doing who currently uses TFS? Are they using GitHub just for Icenium? We have come very close to moving our entire mobile apps development to Icenium, but the lack of TFS support is going to be a deal breaker for us. Thank you for your response in advance.

Hello Arif,

First of all Happy New Year and thanks for the great words about Icenium. Regarding your question about TFS support - it is not in our immediate plans to support it, but our roadmap is always evolving and we are gathering ideas on our feedback portal.

Speaking of version control systems we are seeing a move towards distributed systems like Git or Mercurial, which are extremely popular in the mobile space. Most of our customers are using GitHub or BitBucket (which provides free private repos for small teams) for their projects.

Can you share more details about what you are currently missing from source control perspective in Icenium? Are there any TFS feature you cannot work without in Icenium?

Regards,

Hi David,

We do support any git provider as long as it is publicly accessible and follows the git protocol. Have you hit a specific problem while trying to push your changes?

I was able to connect mist source control to git hub, however i would like to connect to the git repository similar to here http://tfs.visualstudio.com/en-us/learn/code/publish-new-team-project-vs-git

i.e. via https://{username}.visualstudio.com Is this possible?

Hello David,

Yes this would work, we've just tested it and can confirm it does.

What steps did you do/use to connect to the repository at https://{username}.visualstudio.com ?

Was it a tfs repository or git?

Hello David,

As noted in the project explorer, in order to clone and use this repository from Git tools outside Visual Studio, you need to ensure alternate credentials are enabled in the Profile dialog. Once you set those, you would be able to login with the chosen credentials and address (e.g. https://{username}.visualstudio.com/DefaultCollection/_git/{appname}) using Mist or Graphite. See this short video for more information.
