Will Data Access support Microsoft's .NET Execution Environment (DNX) anytime in the near future? When?

 Kind regards,

Sverre H

Hello Sverre,

We have no plans to support Microsoft's .NET Execution Environment at the current moment.
One of the concerns that we currently have is the availability of drivers for the database systems that we are supporting in the new environment.
What are the specific benefits that you will get in case our product supported DNX?
Such information will help us identify the key areas that we should consider when planning any development around this feature idea.

Hello Viktor!

The most prominent benefit is support for ASP.NET 5 with a ligthweight, crossplatform, package-oriented execution environment. I am researching tool options for an upcoming web-based application using data available in an existing Data Access class library. I would consider advising my customer to wait for ASP.NET 5 RTM if that meant that I would be able to take advantage of the lighter .NET Core environment. It would not be of much use if I would need the full environment to support the library, anyway...

 Thank you anyway...

Kind regards,

Sverre H.

Hi Sverre,

Thank you for your feedback. We will have your scenario in mind if we start planning support for DNX.
Making Telerik Data Access multi-platform data layer product is not yet on our planning horizon so if you have that requirement I am afraid that our product is not suitable for this kind of projects.
