Hi,

I'm trying to create my own style with the style builder, but it not seem to work properly.

For example, I try to start a new style from default one (MVC), named "Test".

I go to the grid editor, chose the fine-tune tab, click on widget button, change the background color to "#ff0000" and... nothing happen.

The control don't change even if i click save button (how it changing for updating then to save again).

If i click on an other view button (Cells for example) then click again on widget, my custom background color disappear.. (remember i save before).

I try in IE9 and Chrome last version.

Regards

I too am encountering this issue when creating a new theme from the 'Default' theme.

I have changed the background of the menu 'widget', to use a custom image via the 'fine tune' tab. After the theme has been saved and downloaded, I can see that the new image has been added to the theme image directory, however the CSS file does not reference my new image, nor any of the other changes I have made.

Is anyone else seeing the same behaviour?

Thank you for letting us know, we are currently investigating the issue. The issue doesn't seem to appear in Firefox, so please use it until this gets fixed.

I've also tried the Visual Stylebuilder today (for the first time in a few months) and it appears almost nothing is working. I ´find myself changing colors but only in less than 50% of the cases I will see any changes. Even when I see them, the mostly doesn't work in preview, like if I chose to make a new skin based on lets say the default skin, then change base color, I will see the buttons update on the screen, but when I click save, it will tell me how the different buttons will look, and they all look exactlly as they do in the original skin. And this seem to go on and on. I've tried using Chrome, IE and Firefox, all in latest versions but the problem remains.

When I tried the Style Builder a few months ago, it worked much better. Is this a temporary thing? Unfortunately, I find it close to useless right now (sorry).

(I'm using the ASP.NET AJAX version, not sure how relevant that is)

Hi,

I have already answered in the another thread you posted, but here is my last post again:

VisualStyle Builder is a complicated application and it seems to work best in FireFox browser.

I have tried your scenario with Chrome, and in colorization mode even if it does now show the changes, when you download the skin, the changes were applied.

However, the changes made in Fine Tune were not applied.

As I mentioned, this is a complicated application and it works best in FireFox and my advice is to use that browser when using Visual Style Builder. If it was working fine in a previous Chrome version then it is a browser behavior related to the latest Chrome version to not work now, as nothing in general was changed.

Kind regards,

I am using HTML telerik Menu control in our MVC3 application. For customs CSS I am trying to use Visual Style Builder but I am not getting proper CSS downloaded each time. Also the default telerik css overrides these new css.
Using below link, I clicked on Launch button.

http://www.telerik.com/products/aspnet-ajax/visual-style-builder.aspx

Then I had just gone through colorize and Fine-tune options for the Menu control. In colorize I have given Base color and in Fine tune, I changed background color, text styles and clicked on save and then Download. But Fine tune changes are not getting Downloaded and also Save button doesnt reflects changes.

Can you please suggest us how to get proper CSS downloaded and how to deal with default telerik CSS(which are overriding new CSS) .

Thanks in advance!

Hello Prashant,

Please use Firefox to customize the skin that you are fine-tuning, as it turns out that its behavior is buggy under Chrome and IE.

It's buggy or just not working in IE6, IE9, Chrome (latest as of 1/30/2013) and FireFox (as of 1/30/2013). I know it's a beta but it should at least work.

Hi,

Could you be more specific and what does not work? I have tested recently the Visual Style Builder and it works pretty fine with latest FireFox, as it was stated before is the best browser to be used in the case of Visual Style Builder.

Note, that Visual Style Builder is a complicated application and it is supposed not to work in IE6.

We are working on it and soon a lot of known issues will be fixed, including Chrome, but for now you could use FireFox.

If you are experiencing some specific issues, open a support ticket, and send us a detailed information so we would be able to give a proper help.

I cannot preview or save any changes to embedded skins in FireFox and as for Chrome or IE9, I can't even tweak the base color. I've tried on Windows XP and 7.

Is there another, more manual way of customizing an embedded skin?

Hello,

I have tested a simple scenario and everything works as expected. I have created a custom skin for RadDock control just to check if it works properly and just for a few minutes I succeeded to create a new purple skin based on the embedded Forest skin. You could see a short video file showing the whole process during the custom skin creation: http://screencast.com/t/CrcZnWMeY.

Attached is also 01-CustomSkinDock.zip containing the sample project files.

An additional information for creating RadDock custom skin, could be found at: Tutorial: Creating RadDock Custom Skin. You could find also tutorials for creating custom skin for all other controls.

Kind regards,

Thanks. I got it to work, sort of. I expected that the fine tuning would allow all preview on the changes and that the new color (for example) isn't carried over automatically.

Hi,

I'm also having trouble using the style builder. Seems to work fine colorizing for some colors, but #006699 for example does not seem to make any difference to the preview or downloaded skins. After a couple more attempts at changing the color, the color changer ceases to work.

I was trying to customize RafFormDecorator with the Metro theme, but have tried many other controls, and have never managed to get it working. But it would be a great help if it did.

Thanks
Jack

Even though I got the builder to "work", when I saved and downloaded the files, they didn't work. I don't think I'm going to use this tool until it officially isn't a beta anymore.
