Two questions really..

1) I have been trying to build the examples supplied with v.2009.2 701. I have Silverlight3 framework etc installed. I will not build. It seems that I need the Silverlight3 internal release. I now have this . Will the example build against this?

2) The Silverlight3 internal release is a beta. What is the timeline for a production build for silverlight3?

Thank you in advance.

Hi stephen yeadon,

With the current SL3 build you will not be able to run the examples.

The official SL3 build will be available next week. The examples will be updated too.

I am also runnig silverlight 3 examples i dont seem to be getting anywhere, within the Chart.cs project  there is an error:

Error 1 The type or namespace name 'SelectionChangeEventArgs' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) C:\Program Files (x86)\telerik\RadControls for Silverlight Q2 2009\Examples\Chart\Silverlight\Integration\ChartAndGrid\Example.xaml.cs 80 75 Chart.CS

there were a few other ambigious enumeration errors which i corrected

here are a few more errors i found when trying to build all the examples_sl:

Error 2 The type 'System.ComponentModel.ListSortDirection' exists in both 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\Silverlight\v3.0\system.dll' and 'c:\Program Files (x86)\telerik\RadControls for Silverlight Q2 2009\Binaries\Silverlight\System.Windows.Controls.Data.dll' C:\Program Files (x86)\telerik\RadControls for Silverlight Q2 2009\Examples\GridView\Silverlight\SaveLoadSettings\RadGridViewSettings.cs 495 16 GridView.CS

Error 3 The type 'System.ComponentModel.ListSortDirection' exists in both 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\Silverlight\v3.0\system.dll' and 'c:\Program Files (x86)\telerik\RadControls for Silverlight Q2 2009\Binaries\Silverlight\System.Windows.Controls.Data.dll' C:\Program Files (x86)\telerik\RadControls for Silverlight Q2 2009\Examples\GridView\Silverlight\SaveLoadSettings\RadGridViewSettings.cs 501 16 GridView.CS

can someone please look at this as the examples at this point are pretty unsuable and unworkable ???

Hello Kingsley Magnus-Eweka,

Thank you for your feedback!

We haven't released examples for SL3 yet. The release is later today. Please download it ( when it is available in your account) and let us know if you have problems running the samples.

Kind regards,

Thanks for that...but that brings me to my next question...
'RadControls for Silverlight Q2 2009' download what examples comes with that? are they not supposed to be silverlight version 3 ???
seeing that i could not run them on silverlight 2 sdk which i tried in vain to do yesterday...getting stuck when trying to load controls onto my vs2008 toolbox until i then realised that the examples are actually in SL3 by
1)looking into the "choose tool box Items" and selecting silverlight components tab, looking through some of the assembies and seeing that there were located within directories such as:
2) C:\programfiles(x86)\telerik\Radcontrols for silverlight Q2 2009\binaries\silverlight
C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Silverlight\v3.0\Libraries\Client

3) installing the SL3 SDKs and then adding a tab to my toolbox and choosing the assemblies which allowed be to add the Telerik sivlerlight controls to my toolbox .

so what gives was there an interim version that i did not know about? can someone please explain this ?
thank!

Hello Kingsley Magnus-Eweka,

Yes, the examples in Q2 release are build against the SL2 runtime and are using the SL2 VS tools projects.

The only way to have the SL3 binaries is if have downloaded them from the internal releases.

What I suspect is that you are using the Telerik SL2 binaries with the SL3 runtime - which is basically OK, but the example projects are just not working in this scenario.

Anyway - just wait for a few hours until the user accounts are populated with the Q2.SP1 release and you will get the examples build against SL3 framework and you should not have any problems ;-).

If such arise - please let us know!

Thanks Valentin i appreciate the quick response...
o.k i am eagerly waiting but just so that you guys know i did try to run the examples
in Q2 release and built against the SL2 runtime and using the SL2 VS tools ....thats when i could not get the controls in vs 2008 toolbox as you can see from details on my posts yesterday which was how i was able to resolve that problem:

http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/silverlight/general-discussions/vs-toolbox-radcontrols-for-silverlight.aspx

but when i now tried running the SL3 VS tools and SL3 runtime i was then able to get the controls in the toolbox which made me think i was using the telerik 3 binaries since it worked!

cheers
