Hi,
I'm trying to set the background color for the selected row of a data grid, and it just seems like all the answers I'm seeing are over kill. Is there really no SelectedRowBackGroundColor (or something remotely similar) property of the grid? If not how can I do this with the least amount of coding?

Hello wdudek,
There is no property which handles the MouseOver and Selected states of the grid's rows. Instead you will need to edit the template of the row and apply your changes there. You can use our online help article for information how to do that.

That did what I needed and I will sayit provides for a very powerful editing tool. I do wish that there was some way to provide for a simpler (if less powerful) way to edit the selected row background (and probably some other common similiar properties) I'm doing this as a proof of concept app and the faster I can throw it togather and get back to "regular" work the better.

This in fact is a huge ongoing request from our customers and there have been many ideas thrown both from the community and internally. We are thinking about providing some way of simpler styling of the highlights, selections, invalid, disabled, etc. states. As the magnitude of cases and specifics alone could be overwhelming (especially if you use a lot of our controls) we are looking of a way to provide this as a permanent solution which will be viable all the controls in the suite. So this is on our radar we are just looking for the best way of introducing this feature in the suite.

Yes, yes, 1000x yes. All I want to be able to do is change the highlighed row back/foreground color and the documentation sends me to Blend. I don't have Blend installed and don't want to install it. There should be SIMPLE ways to change SIMPLE things and using the product should not require (over heavily presuppose) Blend. The docs should at least provide the default style embedded in the control (like MSDN does) so that if I want to customize it by hand I can just copy it from the help page. But, again, for such a simple thing there should be a DEAD-EASY way to accomplish it. Any word on the progress of enabling a straightforward way to modify simple styles as you mentioned in the previous post?

For the time being if you do not want to use Microsoft Expression Blend, but you need to customize different templates by your side the only one option is to get the xaml files for all RadControls from the Themes folder of your personal installation, you may find it attached.
