In the Q3 2011 release the OpenAccess SDK says the following, yet I can't find the sample.
  • SDK: Introduce Sofia Car Rental example using ASP.NET MVC - A new Sofia Car Rental MVC example has been added to the SDK, including a model mapped using the Fluent Mapping API and a full blown ASP.NET MVC2 application developed using best practices.

Can somebody point me in the right direction?

Hi Echarbeneau,

We have in fact released a new Sofia Car Rental MVC example, that is part of the SDK, just start the application, go to Samples and then choose the ASP.NET MVC category. This will filter the list of examples to only four, there should be an entry called "Sofia Car Rental MVC example". If either the category is missing or the example is not there this means that you have an old version of the SDK. Please download the latest SDK from http://www.telerik.com/products/orm/sdk.aspx

Can you please share with us whether and where did you download the SDK from?

I hope this is helpful.

Thanks for getting back with me. I had assumed that the SDK was installed with OpenAccess. Apparently I was still on the old SDK version.

After downloading and installing the latest version of the SDK, I was able to see the sample in the SDK browser. Unfortunately I have another issue now. The sample says it requires SQL 2005 or greater to start, but I have 2005 & 2008 installed. My question is; Does the Express version of SQL not meet the requirements to run the sample?

Also, I don't understand why this "requirement" needs to be met, just so I can view a solution. Viewing the code is beneficial regardless of my ability to run it or not.

Thanks for your help,

Hello Ed,

Can you send us the full version number of your SQL Server installation that we can try to reproduce this problem on our side? In general there should be no issues in using SQL Server Express edition.

In the meantime you can try accessing the sample manually through the windows explorer, just go to the:

[installation directory]\OpenAccess ORM\ProductSdk\Content\Samples

Have in mind that if you do so you will have to manually configure the connection strings and add again all the OpenAccess DLL references in the samples you are viewing in order to start them. Let us know if you need any assistance in those tasks.

I tried the SDK with SQL Express on another machine and everything works fine. Thanks for the help. If I find out why the installation on my primary machine doesn't work I'll report back.

Hi
I too have the problem where the SDK Browser reports the requirements are not met. I'm trying to open the MVC Forum Fluent C# sample. I'd be glad to help resolve this.

Craig

Hello Craig,

Thank you for providing us with the exact version of your SQL Server, we will make sure that the next release of the SDK (scheduled for the first half of January 2012) will contain a fix.

For the time being, you can open the solution directly from the SDK install dir. You can find it under [installation directory]\OpenAccess ORM\ProductSdk\Content\Samples/asp/CSharp/MVCForum/.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes,
