I need some help with running WebUi tests with the Test View.

the .aii tests are shown in the Test View, but when I try to run any of them IE opens to about:blank and that is it.

the tests run fine when pressing the Quick Execute button.

I am running the tests against a non local site.

is there any additional configuration needed to get the tests to run via the Test View?

Hello jason luttrell,

Which version of Visual Studio are you using? There is a known issue where if you upgrade a test project from VS2008 to VS2010, sometimes the test settings gets corrupted and you will get this behavior. The solution is to delete the Local.testsettings file and let Visual Studio recreate it.

I have the same issue, but I am using the QA Version. I am unable to find the file mentioned above, Any ideas, I also noticed that when right clicking on a test and selecting "Run To Here" opens the browser but nothing happens. The Browser is also Opened with out the recording option on. The App does not automate the current test to the point selected. This happened after upgrading a test.

Hi Jason Pritchard,

You state "I have the same issue" but you're running QA edition. I am confused by this because Mr. Luttrell's problem had to do with running tests in Test View of Visual Studio. The QA edition does not integrate with Visual Studio and therefore does not have a Test View to run tests from. Could you please clarity what problem you are having here?

Regarding your "Run To Here" problem, that definitely is not normaly. Can you start recording normally? Does recording work when you start it manually? Can you playback tests, i.e. what happens when you hit the Quick Execute button in the Steps panel?

As a quick check, are you running IE6 by any chance? The tool requires IE7 or above to operate.

Sincerely yours,
Cody
