I have just looked at the RIAServices beta with go live license for Vs2008 and wondered how quickly Telerik can respond with an update that supports this.

Also how do you plan to support Silverlight controls in VS2010 when the only support in VS2010 for RIAServices is for SL4 beta and .Net 4 only.

We are ready to purchase your silverlight controls but this really worried us.

Look forward to your response.

Thanks
Martintr

Hi,

Most probably this will be added in our SL4/WPF4 build - please check this post for more info.

Hi MartinT.

I'm using the latest RIA Services Beta and I have not seen any issue with the Q3 Telerik controls. Now I only upgraded a few days ago and I haven't used all the Telerik controls in my application, but the radgrid control seems to work as before. I'm doing all the manipulation of the DataContext myself in code behind and I'm not using the DomainDataSource. I'd be interested if Telerik can comment on whether they think the latest RIA services beta should cause issues with the Q3 stuff.

Now there are a few breaking changes in RIA which you'll have to work through. Plus there is a significant BUG which prevents the deployment/publishing onto a hosted site (works fine when running locally in the dev environment). There is a workaround out on the ria services forum and msoft will be issuing an update soon.

You can find the thread about the issue here and the fix summary is here

Steve

Hello guys,

We have looked over the PDC WCF RIA Services release and there is a problem if you try to bind the GridView to a DomainDataSource as it is in our example. The grid works just fine if it is directly bound to the RIA generated entities as Steven has pointed out.

The good news is that we have already fixed the problem with DomainDataSource and the fix will be available for the next internal release as well as for the upcoming service pack release. Also we will update our online examples to use the latest RIA bits for the service pack.

Hope this helps,

@Martintr:

Hi;
I'm not affiliated with Telerik, just a happy customer and honored to be MVP. You mentioned about being worried of support for dev10. I think as a consumer it's only fair to share my experience with you so it may shed some light on your concern.

I've been with Telerik SL control from the first CTP and every Q release I'm shocked to see the improvements and additions added to each update. Not only that, they're the first company to release update release (that's at least compatible) when MSFT releases a new version. For example, Telerik was the first to release SL3 compatible controls when MSFT released SL3, in case you wanted to go production with SL3. This pattern has shown how much the team is in tune with MSFT releases. Based on past experience, I feel confident and have no worries about their support for Dev10 and SL4.

I hope my past experience helps you to move forward!
..Ben
