Hi,

a customer notified me about difficulties resizing SL Windows.
I was able to reproduce this on your Test application.

It is a bit hard to explain so I prepared a video about it.
The video shows a red circle when I click with the mouse (unfortunately it does not show releases).
First a short description. I click on a corner - drag a little an finally my mouse "slips into the content area".
-- It also works on the "outside area" - but content happens more often (or on making the window smaller).
The corner still thinks the mouse is dragging - so when I (mouse button released) hit the corner it resizes.
To stop this you have to position your mouse on the corner and click (press / release).

As you can see I do not "sprint" with the mouse - I move it real slowly.
Anyhow - the problem becomes worse after some of this "mouse lost events".
The resize functionality gets lost on this corner (or the whole side).
And last not least (I don't know why) the corner becomes some kind of "run away thing".
When you touch it with the mouse - no matter from which direction - the window becomes larger.

In the last seconds of the video I tried to make a trick - I touch the corner from the outside (right bottom).
This was "last hope" that the corner will run away to top, left - but as written before - it does not matter from where you touch.
The window becomes larger and larger.

Hi ManniAT,

Thank you for the comprehensive example, and video, it was very helpful for understanding what the problem is. The issue comes from the fact  that you use HtmlPlaceholder inside the window, unfortunately we have missed that if you use HtmlPlaceholder there may be some issues with the mouse cursor. We will try to resolve the issue for our next release, and I hope, until then, this will not be a show stopper for you.

Sincerely yours,

Hi,

fortunately I have a customer who understands such problems - so no, it's not a stopper.
And to follow up the first demo - my customer argued the problem about a window which has not HTML content.
You are right - HTML content makes the things more problematic. That's the reason why I took this example.
I didn't know it - I just found out by trying that the was the sample which make reproduction of the error much easier.

But also with a "normal window" (in this case in contains just an image) you can get those results.
Again I attached a video - I moved a bit fast with the mouse sometimes - this gives a 100% chance to reproduce it.
But even with "normal speed mouse moves" - sooner or later the window becomes instable.

Hi Manfred,

We are aware of this problem but we have not been able to find a simple solution so far. We actually plan to refactor the code of RadWindow, because of some problems we ran into. We will also try to address this issue, too.

Thank you for your report. I have updated your Telerik points.

Hi Boyan,

of course I report issues - I guess this is the best way to get even better products from you.
Reporting problems (errors or so) has the following reasons for me:
a.) Anger (extremely seldom - and temporarily)
b.) Frustration (also seldom) - especially when the documentation is poor in that specific point
c.) Need for help because something stops me
d.) To let you (telerik) know about it (I guess 90% of the posts)

Regards

Manfred

Hi ManniAT,

I completely agree with your reasons to send tickets. We are continuously improving and enhancing our support resources (incl. help articles) to help the users find the needed information there. We are aware that there are lots of resources to add and we are more than willing to help our customers via support tickets or forums when they struggle with certain issues and cannot find a solution in the available online resources.

Hello Telerik and Manfred.  Has there been any resolution to this?  I am running the latest code (runtime v2.0.50727) and I am experiencing the same problems as Manfred.  Thanks for the video, BTW, great way to show the problem.

Hi Hector,

I am unable to reproduce the issue at least following the steps of Manfred's video and I believe this bug was fixed months ago. Are you using Telerik latest assemblies  from Q3 release version 2009.3.1103.1030  as you have sent me the version of Microsoft Silverlight assemblies not Telerik's. You are using Silverlight 3 I believe.
If downloading the latest version of our assemblies doesn't help, could you please send us a sample project where the behavior can be seen, because the issue may be caused by some property or a custom code you are using. Also the steps you do that cause this issue can be of great help in reproducing the problem.
