I had occasion to reset my VS toolbox and, consequently run the option to register the controls.

I noticed that this fired up devenv and JC. The process seemed to complete but devenv didn't exit and, when I fired up devenv manually the toolbox tab I was expecting wasn't there. Being of a suspicious nature, I killed all the devenv processes, fired up VS, stopped JC from loading on startup, came out and ran the register option again.

And lo, devenv started, and closed. And when I started VS, the toolbox was there, hurrah!

And the lesson? Whatever it is that the register option does, it needs to make sure it does it with JC disabled.

Hello Stuart,

I'm a bit at a loss on that one. Nothing like that happens in our test environment when I try to follow your instructions. Could you help me out a bit more? Which version of VS are you using? What kind solution/projects/files do you have loaded when that happens? Does it happen every time you perform the actions you describe? Keep us posted on that one.

I'm running VS2008 SP1.

I've not tried it again since getting the toolbox properly reset. I'm not in a position to do so now, but I'll try it again when I'm back in the office, next week.
