hello,
i am try to modify the items inside the filter popup, but i can only get reference upto the popup control. when i iterate thru it, it has no children inside, but the screen shows the checkbox items etc where u cn do the filtering. any idea hw i can modify the inside of the filter popup (say replace the checkbox with an image instead of text)

The correct way to do this is to create your own custom filtering control.
I have provided a step-by-step tutorial in my blog post Custom Filtering with RadGridView for Silverlight. With this approach you will have total control over what the filtering UI will look like.
