Can RadTileView have different width/height settings for each radtileviewitems defined within? I tried setting these properties for each items, and in the design view I was able to successfully see the changes, but application crashes run time. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Nirmala,

Currently you can't use those properties, but we are planing to fix this for the Q3 2011 Beta. For now you can try to set margins to the TileViewItems to change their size.
If you have further questions feel free to ask.

Thank you for the quick response. I tried setting the margin of radtileviewitem, but it seems that only left and top margin properties work, right and bottom doesn't seem to change the size at all. Also, post using margin, the tiles when minimized, layout on the page appears wierd. Please find attached images. The layout of these items see to go out of place when the tiles are maximized. Would you be able to point me to a sample project/xaml depicting the use of margin to set the tileviewitem size on the page?

Hello Nirmala,

We are aware of the issues that come up with setting Margins to control the RadTileViewItems height/weight, since those values are applied at all times despite the item's state - Restored, |Maximized, Minimized. And the workarounds for them might be really complicated, since you will have to change the Margins depanding on the Item's state or other proprieties. Therefore it is better to wait for the custom size feature that we are working on and that will be released with the Q1 2011 Beta release scheduled for the mid of January. You can track this feature's progress here.

I hope this time frame is acceptable for you.

Hi Tahir,

You can examine this demo solution as it demonstrates how to create a RadTileView with differently sized tiles. I hope it will help you get started. You can examine the other TileView examples in our online demo site as they cover a broad spectrum of scenarios implemented with the RadTileView control. The online documentation, on the other hand, can give you more information about the main properties and features of the control.

All the best,
