Hi,

I just came across your RadRibbonBar control and had a question.  Basically, this is the type of text editor control we currently require but it seems that the control isn’t fully functional right out of the box.  I noticed that even on your demos, none of the buttons or menu options seem to do anything and you can’t edit any text while in MS Word mode.  Am I to understand that this RibbonBar control simply provides a skeleton and the widgets needed to develop such a text editing control and the functionality behind the buttons and menu options would have to implemented by those using the control?  Do you actually have a sample project that is fully functional?

We actually do need something that just works and is ready for use.  Please advise.

Safiur

Hello Safiur Rahman,

the RibbonBar controls is not a text editor control. It is a toolbar control. More info is available here:

Valentin,

Thanks for the reply but I'm still a bit confused.  On the demos that you have uploaded, you actually do show a MS Word like text editor area or an MS Paint like area underneath the tool bar.  How would you create such a component?  We basically need a control with that type of functionality.  Is something like that available?

Hi Safiur,

While the online demos of the RibbonBar control may look like MS Word and Paint, they are actually just mock-ups of those applications and only illustrate the RibbonBar control - the rest is not functional. As for how to develop a Word-like component - this is far from being a trivial task and would require a lot of work.

We are currently working on a native Silverlight rich text editor which will be available later this year, but of course won't have all of Word's features. As far as I know, there is no fully-featured Word-like component for Silverlight on the market today.

Best wishes,
