[Solved] Q3 Group Aggregates Broken

I read through the breaking changes of the Q3 release and now I need some help.

When setting the groups in xaml like so

<t:RadGridView.GroupDescriptors>
    <t:GroupDescriptor Member="DateIn"/>
</t:RadGridView.GroupDescriptors>

The aggregate functions are not calculated on in the group footers. They were calculated OK in the Q2 releases. I saw another post about having to set the aggregate functions in code behind when grouping in code behind. That may be the answer however the group is set in xaml and there is no event fired unless the UI creates the group. What is the suggestion for this scenario in the Q3 release?

If I create the group manually in the UI all aggregates calculate and are shown. However I want to group on a hidden column and dont want to show the grouppanel to the user.

Hi MiddleTommy,

 Do you define your columns in XAML? If so, you need to move the GroupDescriptors element after the Columns element in your XAML.

That did the trick,

But now I am noticing that when you have groups set up then you clear the DataSource and repopulate it with new or fresh data; The groups only show the first item placed in the group. All other rows are hidden untill you do a Rebind()

My ItemsSource is an ObservableCollection<T>.

 Do you set the ItemsSource of RadGridView to null, or you Clear() your ObservableCollection?

in my ViewModel I call Clear on the ObservableCollection.

This also happens when the Collection is freshly loaded. Only in Q3 not Q2 sp1

 I see. Unfortunately, we have been unsuccessful so far in replicating this issue. Could you please open a support ticket and attach a project that demonstrates this behavior?

Hi MiddleTommy,

 I forgot to add that there is a workaround - you can use RadObservableCollection<>, call its SuspendNotifications() method before you start adding items and then call its ResumeNotifications() method after you are done adding items. You only need to do this when you are performing a bulk add operation on a grouped grid.

This work around is awesome. Everything is up and running.
The Telerik Reporting Support is sooo slow compared to you. They take days if not weeks to respond.

Also I think the Sorting and Group Aggregate Calculation problems I had are related to this Bulk Insert bug.
This work around seems to have fixed them too. I'll let you know otherwise.
