[Solved] Q1 2011 Does not Install Telerik Templates in VS 2010

Hi,
Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but when I install the new Q1 2011 (v2011.1.315) it doesn't install any Telerik project templates for visual studio 2010. (It does for Visual Studio 2008 okay though!).

Also, on VS 2010 I find that the Telerik Menu option is now missing the Project Upgrade Wizard option! It only has the create new telerik project option.  So now I can't upgrade an existing 'ordinary' MVC3 project to a Telerik one anymore.

I've tried uninstalling all of my previous Telerik installs to give me a clean base, then installing MVC 3 then installing Telerik Q1 2011 but still doesn't include the Telerik Project Templates.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Hi Derek,

It could be that a process has blocked the older versions of the VSExtensions files during uninstall. The subsequent installs might have deployed the files again, causing Visual Studio to treat the package as a one in a broken state. This is the case I've monitored it personally when running the installations with Visual Studio started.

Please, try the steps below:
1) Close all Visual Studio instances
2) Uninstall the Telerik UI Extensions for ASP.NET MVC
3) Start a Windows Explorer and navigate to %localappdata%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\Extensions
4) Wipe out the Telerik folder if found
5) Navigate to the [VisualStudio2010InstallFolder]\Common7\IDE\Extensions folder through Windows Explorer
6) Wipe out the Telerik folder if found
7) Run the installer of the Telerik UI Extensions for ASP.NET MVC

Hi Fawad,

This is an issue we have not been able to reproduce. Installing the extensions manually from the attachment should resolve the problem (extract and install by double-clicking).

You could help us investigate the issue further by sending us a Visual Studio activity log.
The latter can be obtained by starting Visual Studio 2010 with the command switch /log "[Destination]\ActivityLog.xml", (make sure the IDE is closed before taking the log).

Hi Fawad,

You can get the Telerik WinForms VSExtensions through Visual Studio Gallery. You could use the Extension Manager inside Visual Studio to install them directly without downloading the VSIX package.

We are not aware of any issues like the below (missing Visual Studio integration) with OpenAccess ORM.
