We are currently evaluating WebUITestStudio based on WebUITestStudio_2009.2.701_trial.exe

We use DNN 4.9.0 and a set of custom modules. WebUITestStudio is unable to cope with what to me seems a relatively simple scenario.

Input of characters to Text fields are only partially captured, for instance: I’m entering “Olsen Corporation” and the tool only captures “OlsnCorption”. Since this page is for entering of data that will be stored in a database, it is easily verifiable that I really entered “Olsen Corporation” since that is what I find in the database.

Select elements (standard aspx combo boxes) are ignored, that is: I‘ve selected another element in the combo, and WebUI TestStudio didn’t capture that I’ve changed the control contents.

It seems that this version of WebUI TestStudio makes mistakes about text fields about 30% of the time.

Is this a problem with WebUI TestStudio that is a known problem? If so I sincerely hope there is a way to work around it.

Hello Espen,

Thank you for your evaluation of WebUI Test Studio and your feed back, we hope you will find WebUI a useful tool for your testing requirements.

For aspx combo boxes, I ran through a quick test on WebUI using this example. For each test step recorded on the clicks of the drop down arrow and the actual selection, if you can please set the 'SimulateRealClick' property in the Properties Window to true. This should move the mouse and click on the selection to make the changes.

For text boxes, you can change the recorded text in the test step's 'Text' property in the Properties Window also for any errors that may occur during recording. We do try to improve all aspects of recording, and I'll log this as a request for further text recording tweaking.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or issues you may encounter using the product .
