[Solved] Problem with row selected highlight status changing its colour

In the following Grid app, you can see that all the colours are fine. Each colour represents a position of the product category vs. its budget.  http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/4168/suggestedbudget.png

There seems to be an automatic  highlighting of the row selected. mind you, there is nothing going on if they do select, by select i mean bringing your cursor to that row. here is what happens, have a look at ostomy category here:

Haven’t been able to find any way of changing this without using Expression Blend (which I don’t have a copy of unfortunately!).  It doesn’t appear that there’s a way to turn this off, either.  
 
Perhaps you can suggest some ways around this,  – preferably, I guess, making the selected row not show as selected whilst still having the selected cell show would be ideal.

Hi Phil Kestenbaum,

To completely disable the MouseOver and Selection highlights you will need to edit the template of the GridViewRow and handle the MouseOver and Selected visual states. As you have no access to Blend I have prepared a sample which achieves just that. I hope it will serve you as a good reference.
