Even though I can change the width of a chart, I'm noticing that the plot area stops stretching at some point and I'm not having any luck in finding the property that might control this.  Can you advise?  (This the RC version, btw)

Sorry, I found my problem--the window was being clipped by an adjacent window.  Problem solved.
