Hello,

I just wanted to ask if there is an build in SearchProvider for OSM. Perhaps has anyone written one?

Or is there another way to find an address on the map without using the Bing provider, which is insanely expensive for our project.

Some information about this topic would be very helpfull!

Jonas

Hi Jonas,

When we researched the services provided by OpenStreetMaps they did not expose any support for search service as well as for geocoding or routing.
With that said, this is not in our immediate development plans. still it will be reconsidered when discussing our future plans, but I am afraid I cannot commit its availability to any specific date or release.

If you want to use OSM search service, then as a base you can use a code of the following control:
http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/MapControl.aspx
It has the SearchProvider class that implements search request to the OSM.

The link to the documentation of Search and Reverse Geocoding service is the following:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Nominatim
