Greetings, I was just curious to see if there were any plans in the future to offer DomainDataSource support for the OpenRiaServices project. The OpenRiaServices project is the extension of the original RIA services code base that was open sourced from Microsoft to Colin Blair.

Hello Dave,

Thank you for contacting us.

Currently we cannot confirm that support for OpenRiaServices will be available. We will need more time to investigate such possibility.

Hello Dave,

Just a quick follow-up :

As you already know, currently there is no support for OpenRiaServices. This has been logged into our Feedback portal as feature request. You can track the status of this feature request by following the feedback item: Add support for OpenRiaServices. Once we have a progress we will change its status.

I would recommend you to vote for it, thus making its priority higher.

Thank you very much for your response! I will definitely be voting for this feature.

For those out there who are using the current older Microsoft RIA services version I would suggest you look at the Open RIA services project as, like I mentioned in my original post, is the original RIA services code base that was open sourced from Microsoft for outside continued development. If you like what you see then I suggest voting to see support added to the RadDomainDataSource :).

Open RIA services has had many bugs cleaned up from the original code base, supports DB context (for those who would rather not use the older ObjectContext) and also supports the latest version of the Entity Framework, which the regular RIA services does not.

Ria Services Toolkit is not available for download anymore - the only option is to use OpenRiaServices, which is currently not supported by Telerik DataAccess

Hello ,

Our RadDomainDataSource supports OpenRIA with Q1 2015 version. However, all of DataAccess visual features have been deprecated because the development direction of the product has been changed. Please check this blog post for more information.

But DataAccess does not support OpenRIA by itself - it's impossible to run OpenRIA domain service backed by DataAccess(

Hello,

We cannot claim official support for exposing DataAccess context through OpenRIA. The current development plans for the product do not target OpenRIA.
