Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows the advantages of OpenAccess vs. Ideablade. Is there anyone who can convince me of using OpenAccess instead of Ideablade? Does anyone know the pro's and cons?

Greetings,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for your interest in Telerik OpenAccess ORM.

From the Telerik perspective our list of features highlights our strengths, usually weaknesses of other ORM products. That comes beside the integration with the other Telerik products and the low cost considering it as part of the Telerik Premium Collection.

We recommend to take your time to prototype your use cases with 1-3 tools to find out, which product fits best and if it is well supported by communities and the vendor.

Kind regards,

I looked at IdeaBlade before and one of the things that they do that I hope you guys do also is the video's on using their products.  I know you have have some on the ORM but if you look at theirs (http://www.ideablade.com/DevForceClassic/DevForceClassic_videos.html) it actually teaches you a lot about using the product.  If you could do a similar type of series with associated documentation it would be big benefit to me and I believe other's who are new to OpenAccess or even just considering it.

Hi Alfred Ortega,
We are working exactly on the same set of features (video materials and support), it will start to emerge with time. All will be organized in a proper way in the QSF application, Telerik.tv and the support section.

Great news, now for the obvious follow up question - do you have any idea when that might be available?

Hello Alfred Ortega,
The resources will be added incrementally, so there is no 'release date' or something similar. The materials will be available in the moment they are produced. I am unable to provide you with a concrete schedule.

Are there any plans to use OpenAccess together with the Entity Framework, as IdeaBlade offers in their solution(s)?

Hello Daniel,

Please do understand that we don't disclose all our plans upfront. Most of our short term planning is being announced on our Roadmap, usually shortly after a major release announcing the next major release.

Besides of that, we can tell that we are having some ideas and discussion concerning EF, so there is a good chance that we come up with something nice and helpful.

Coming back to the original subject here, I'd like to point to new videos recently published:

Other good resources are always

Still, please expect continuous expansion of our materials.

Please don't hesitate to contact us for any further question.

Peter (and Kevin Babcock)
Thank you  for the videos you have so far done, .  I built a MySQL application and it's deployment was not going so hot, but Kevin's list of required dll's in the bin directory (OpenAccess 101 video) was a life saver!

Thanks again and please keep them coming,
Al
