hi guys ,
i am trying to find info about open app from an sms that contains the app link link. i have noticed that there is url schemes to open dialer, sms dialog and email. is there any scheme for what i need?
any other solution will be accepted with bless.

Hi Maor,

The SMS url parser is not clever enough to work out that your custom url scheme is an url for an app and displays it as plain text. As a workaround you can try to use an http:// based url that will then redirect to the url for your app.

Hi Maor,

Ok after some further digging it seems that iOS handles this automatically under two conditions:
  • you have the app with the custom url scheme installed
  • the sms is sent after the installation of the app with custom url scheme

As for Android, it is not supported out of the box even with the above conditions met. Possible solutions are installing 3rd party messaging apps to replace the stock messaging that handle schemes or creating a Cordova plug-in that would read your sms and parse custom url schemes manually (an example of this here).
