I really like the product and have found it easy and intuitive to use.  The problem I have is with the new pricing structure.  I have made an app or two, and published them.  They don't really make any money though (read < $50).  I can't afford as an independent (read SOLO) developer to pay a monthly / annual fee for this product.  It isn't feasible for the independent developer.  I'm sorry to see you go Telerik, but it is a must.  You lost me as a customer due to your current pricing plan.  Thanks and enjoy.

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear this Frank. I'm not sure if you are aware, but we have a new Developer subscription that is a lower cost alternative. You can read up on it here: http://www.telerik.com/platform/campaigns/developer-edition

You can also look into an AppBuilder Developer subscription that starts at $19/month: http://www.telerik.com/purchase/appbuilder

I would like to chime in here too.  I like what I see during the evaluation, but as a developer, I may use this for one or two projects a year, if that.  We don't make too many apps in our business.  I really think you should consider adding an ala carte billing feature so we could be charged on say, a per project basis.

There really isn't any way for me to justify $50/mo to my boss for the limited use scenario we are looking at.  $50 per project for up to two projects a year?  Now that I could see.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the feedback. It probably goes without saying, but with an annual subscription your costs go down to $39/month. However, it more likely sounds like you feel like you aren't getting the value from the other tools and services offered by the Telerik Platform. I'm thinking in terms of our Backend Services, responsive images, push notifications, feedback, crash reporting, and most importantly: analytics.

Assuming that is the case, I'd be curious if there is anything else we can offer that would make the subscription more valuable to you? Are you not using these services from a 3rd party or do you just not see a use for them at all right now?

I don't think you understand the problem.  We all see the value being offered, but can't afford it.

This is the "chicken or the egg" problem.  We need get the tools to make the app....  so that we can get the funds to get the tools.  It's impossible.

If it was something like $19/month, on a month-month basis (not a yearly contract or one payment for a whole year) it would be worth it.  I could create an app with great tools and have time for funds to come in.  Then I could get on a better plan if I needed it.

You have to also understand that where I live (Ohio) the cost of living is low, so the amount you want may seem low to you, but here that is a lot of money.  Not just a lot... TOO much money.  That is why I, and I bet many others, have chosen to not sign up, even though we really like what we see.

Hi Frank,

I hear you. We do have a baseline price point where we start to lose money based on our engineering and support resources required to offer the Telerik Platform as a service. We will definitely take this feedback into account as we continue to look at pricing updates going into 2016.

Hello Kashif,

I am not sure I understand your question. If you're inquiring whether you will be charged to upload your app in Google Play, then you need to check Google Play publishing requirements.

Telerik Platform won't charge you for uploading your app to Google Play when your trial ends but you won't be able to Publish your app through Telerik Platform. This also means that you won't be able to sign your app in release mode with your own certificate and you would have to manually do so before uploading your app in Google Play.

Please let me know if this addresses your question.
