Hi,

I noticed that on your demo of the Map control the mouse wheel support isn't very fluid.  I have to push the wheel fairly fast for it to be registered as an event by the map control.  Other map controls zoom with even the lightest of wheel moves.  It doesn't feel very natural.

Cheers,
Clint

Hi Clint,

Unfortunately we are unable to reproduce any issues with the mousewhell zooming speed in our local tests. Can you send to us the hardware configuration of your PC and the web browser you are using so we can investigate the problem further?

Sincerely yours,

Any chance you have a tool to capture the hardware configuration?

The short version is as follows:

Windows 7 64bit
IE 8
Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 v1.0

Clint

Hello Clint,

Thanks for the details. We investigated the issue a bit further and it seems it is reproducible when the mouse wheel is set to scroll one or two lines at a time (Control Panel -> Mouse -> Wheel). To workaround this for the time being, please set  "The following number of lines at a time" to the default value of 3.

Hi,

I have confirmed that my mouse was and is using 3 lines at a time which is the default as you have said.  There must be some other reason for this issue.

I can confirm that I have the same problem at home which incidentally is the same model of mouse as at a work, if in fact that is the cause.  I will try to get onto other machines with other mice to see if the problem is an isolated issue.

Cheers,
Clint

Hi Clint,

Did you have the chance to try this with a different mouse? In addition, can you please you try to increase the number of lines setting to 4 or 5 - just for testing purposes? We are yet to test this specific mouse, but numerous others seem to work fine with the default setting,  still unsure if this could be the real problem.

Sincerely,
Ves

Hi,

I tried my collegues mouse and it works properly.  The difference between his mouse and my mouse is that his mouse has distinct "clicks" when scrolling.  My mouse has a smooth scrolling wheel.

I also tried different scroll values and it didn't really improve at all.

Both the DeepEarth implementation and the Bing Silverlight control work fine with my mouse so it may be usefull to see what they do differently.

Cheers,
Clint
