[Solved] Modify Default Style without Blend

I'm needing to modify a default style (specifically for the MenuItem, but this is a fairly general question). The instructions for how to do so assume I have access to Expression Blend, which unfortunately my company doesn't provide.

Thus, my question is: how does one go about modifying a default style without using Blend?

Hello Duncan,

First you need the Styles from a Telerik theme for the RadMenu and RadMenuItems. You could find them in the installation folders of RadControls For Silverlight. For example on my computer thy are located here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Telerik\RadControls for Silverlight Q1 2011 SP1\Themes\OfficeBlack\Themes\Office\Black\RadMenu.xaml

Then you could copy the styles in your project and merge the ResourceDictionary in the App.xaml. All implicit styles from there would apply across your application.

After that you could use your XAML skills to adjust the code. Note that the RadMenuItem has 4 different control templates and there are 2 different styles for Menu and ContextMenu.
