Hi here,

I tried searching for a while and I could not find the information I wanted. I am using Telerik UI for Silverlight (2014.3.1021.1050) and I would like to use the ArcGIS map provider.

I would like to know if this service is free via the Telerik UI for Silverlight.

For the Bing provider (http://docs.telerik.com/devtools/wpf/controls/radmap/features/providers/bing-map.html) it states that a key must be supplied, which is quite clear that I need to sign up to the Bing service and pay for it.

However for the ArcGIS provider (http://docs.telerik.com/devtools/wpf/controls/radmap/features/providers/arcgis.html) it does not mention anything about a key but I am able to render a map using the radmap control. So I am unsure whether using ArcGIS is free or not.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Kelvin

Hello Kelvin,

You can create a key and use the Bing Maps services for free for developing a non-profit applications. You can read more about this in the Create a Key web page in the Bing Maps website. Also, if you are interested you can take a look at the map API's Terms Of Use web page.

About the ArcGIS provider, the ArcGIS API doesn't require an account or a key so the provider doesn't use any key. However, if you decide using the provider or the API in your application I recommend you to take some time to explore the ArcGIS Terms Of Use and ArcGIS License Agreement.

Regards,
