Mailmerge

Hi,

Its good to have a richtextbox component in Sl, I read in Sl4 it is also included, but it will be much cooler to have a mailmerge functionality. You must be able to fill the fields using single dataset or master-detail datasets(services).  Table (defining a mailmerge field in the column) spell checker, and embedded image support should be included also. We support this kind functionality in our windows application, but want to do the same for SL.

We will be adding support for images and spell-check in the upcoming months for Q2. I am not sure if we would be able to deliver mail-merge functionality out of the box but we will make sure RadRichTextBox API can be used to achieve similar goals.

Thanks for getting back to us. Q2 is currently scheduled for about mid July. We will most probably release a beta version several weeks before that, so stay tuned. In the meanwhile we'll be glad to answer any other questions.

Hi Mike,

We have to create a template with merge field, sample: FirstName. After that, we save it into the database in HTML format. A process in the database will finding merge field (ex: FirstName) and replace it by real value. We expect that merge field will be added some special character to help us find it easily.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, with the current version, there is no API to do that. The good news is that we're working actively to fix that for Q3 and it's planned to contain an API to support exactly the type of functionality you need.
