I work for a company that develops software for various clients. The software we develop is written and maintained by us, but the software is placed onto the client's network, servers, etc, and used by their employees on their internal network. Would a "paid" license be required when developing software in this way?

The opensource edition of the ASP.NET MVC extensions is a suitable option if you are building an application for internal use or an open source application with a license compatible with the GNU GPL v2.0.
If your application will in any way contain commercial, non-open source pieces which do not comply with the GPL license, or you are interested in Support and/or access to minor updates through the year, then you will need to use the Commercial version of our MVC Extensions.
However, due to the complexity of the GPL and the ambiguities inherent in copyright law, it is not appropriate for us to advise you on your specific licensing decisions. The best and safest choice is to contact legal counsel so that you are sure of getting the rights you need.
