[Solved] License clarification

I've been researching this topic for a little bit now and can't seem to get the message sorted out. I've been using the Telerik MVC Extensions for some time, starting from this press release:

"Under this license, developers can freely use and redistribute the Telerik Extensions for ASP.NET MVC in all projects, both commercial and open source. A commercial license that includes support will also be available."

This led me to believe I could use these components on an internal line of business app, so long as I did not expect commercial support or ability to open support tickets.

This URL also seems to suggest the exact same thing, that my non-opensource line of business application can continue to use the open-source extensions, without my project itself being open source

However, when I read the following, it seems to state that if unless I pay the $999 commercial license fee, my app must be an open source project, and my internal line of business app will not qualify to use the open-source Telerik MVC license.

Please confirm which of these is accurate for a project that was started in the last 6 months. It is an internal line of business application that requires customer authentication to use.

It seems like at some point they switched from MS-PL to GPL v2.  With a GPL v2 license you are correct that you have to open source your application to comply with the licensing requirements. It's pretty bad that they switched licenses on us.

Hello Mike,

The Telerik extensions for ASP.NET MVC have never been released under the MS-PL license. Before their first official release, there was a CTP release of jQuery extensions for MVC, and only that was licensed under MS-PL.
