I fixed my problems by uninstalling the newer free edition of ORM and then re-installing the old dev edition, and now everything works again.
I'd still like to know if there is a new version of the dev edition in the works.

Hello Helen,
We have decided to offer a fully functional Free Edition of Telerik OpenAccess ORM to all of you, so if you download and upgrade to it, you won't have any issues and differences - it is basically the commercial edition. Let us know about your issues with the upgrade and we will help you identify and resolve them.
For further clarification I would add that you are still entitled to 24h priority support as a client of our Premium Collection. This is something that will not be available for the Free Edition clients without a Premium or Ultimate license. They will be able to get help through our great community by writing in the Forums.
