I'm trying to use the new keyboard navigation and I can't seem to get it working. The Demo doesn't seem to work either, and I'm confused about the description in the Demo.

The description for the Tab key says:
  • Tab (standard mode) - Move focus between grid, links and form controls.
  • Tab (actionable mode) - Move focus.

What is standard mode and actionable mode - I searched the documentation and I see no mention of those anywhere? Also in the Demo, I don't see the Tab key working that way, if I click a cell so I'm in edit mode for the cell, then press the Tab key I move to the next cell, but the cell is not in edit mode, and then if I press the Tab key again I move off the grid to another element, which seems to be what is described as "standard mode". The functionality I'd like to have, which I thought was described as "actionable mode" is when I'm in edit mode in one cell and I press the Tab key I'd tab to the next cell and be in edit mode in that cell, so that I can quickly edit all the cells in a row.

Unfortunately that's not how it's working - so how is "actionable mode" supposed to work, and how do I get my grid into "actionable mode"?

Thanks!
Sean

Hello Sean,

This is exactly how keyboard navigation is intended to work. Standart mode is when cell is not edited. Actionable mode when the cell is edited and we control the behavior of Tab key, i.e save the changes in the current cell->close current cell editor->move focus on next cell.

Next cell might not be editable, might be cell from command column. This is one of the reasons why the cell is only focused. The other reason for the behavior: imagine if the grid has a lot of columns, navigating out of the grid by pressing Tab key(default behavior) will take a lot of keystrokes.

All the best,

I am trying to use the Tab Key in to the MVC grid. Can I use it in MVC grid.

I want to read the value of last edited cell ( may be some event) as i have to populate values on other columns based on edited cell.

Is it something possible with MVC Grid?

Thanks,
Timir
