JustCode and VS2010

Very interesting product - however, one small....minor....tiny....problem.

it seems that it doesn't work with Visual Studio 2010 - and yes, i know, it's in beta, but so is JustCode and chances are that most developers, willing to be involved with JustCode in it's beta stage are highly likely to also be running VS2010.

Any chance of getting that sorted?

Hello Brian,

We have some pretty aggressive plans for JustCode, and the next beta is planned for mid-January. In the meantime, we also plan to release bi-weekly builds with the latest bug fixes and new features. Thanks to the JustCode's Auto Update functionality, you won't miss a build that fixes some problems you've reported or that adds some new cool features. We also plan to start working on the Visual Studio 2010 support immediately and hopefully the first bits for it will be available in January too.

that leaves me with two options..

1) forego Visual Studio 2010 and Install Visual Studio 2008

or

2) forego JustCode and continue with Visual Studio 2010

what a conundrum.....

had hoped, that in light of the huge buzz around VS2010 that JustCode would have been capable of running with it - release time is pretty close (i hope).

Suppose i could install Visual Studio 2008 again and let them run side-by-side as a #3 option....arggff.

Will we be getting access to those nightly builds? and is there a way for JustCode to auto-update with the "releases" of the nightly builds as well or will it only be for minor releases (eg. x.x.x.1 -> x.x.x.2)

Hi Brian,
We already started working on VS 2010 support and we'll send you the first stable bits for VS 2010 as soon as they're available (maybe in December or January at the latest).
We don't have plans for nightly builds for JustCode for now but we could reconsider this option. The auto updates features will show that a new version is available only for the bi-weekly releases which means you'll get your first notification about the next JustCode version available on the 27th of November (next Friday).

This hosed my plans to test JustCode as well. Please send me the bits when they're available. In the meantime, I will put it on my desktop which has VS2008 (don't want to install VS2008 on my laptop).

That's excellent news...

I actually bit the bullet and installed it on one of my development VMs at work...large sized project...performance is good here :)

Now we just need 2010 (which we are waiting patiently for, thanks for coming back and taking our suggestions on board) and the dreaded closing "}" and i'd be switching completely.

I am just installing JustCode 2009.3.1217.1 and I am disappointed to see that it still won't install into 2010.

Do you have any update on 2010 support for JustCode?

Well, I am part of the team working on VS 2010 support. We pretty much have most of our stuff already ported there and we are really keen on releasing a VS 2010 version of JustCode. It seems, however, that there are gonna be quite some differences between the release version of VS 2010 and Beta 2. Currently we are putting most of our effort in supporting the release version as opposed to Beta 2. Hence we are aiming at releasing together with the official VS 2010 release. On the other hand, if Microsoft delays the VS 2010 official release then we'll do a branch that supports Beta 2 some time in the first months of year 2010 and release that.

So, VS 2010 support is well on its way. Please, stay tuned and and don't forget that we are gonna be more than happy to get your feedback once you get a hold on the product.

I can see from previous posts that the code base needs to be different between supporting a VS Beta and the final version, which is fair enough.  However, with Visual Studio 2010 RC released on Monday is there any update on when people might see a beta? 

I'm trying to evaluate whether to go for JustCode or ReSharper for our projects, ReSharper has been in beta for a while now, and I'm keen to see how JustCode compares.

I 'could' try it in VS2008 but our current project is a VS 2010 and I want to see how well it performs in a real world scenario.

Hello,

I am using VS2010 and I have installed the latest JustCode (beta2). I can see that JustCode has installed because I can see the JustCode menu, however I am not able to see the "Marker Bar" thats usually on the right -next to the scroll bar.

Is this a bug?  -is there a switch I need to set in the settings somewhere?   -or is it not yet compatible with the VS2010 RC?

Hello guys,
First, JustCode "Info Stripe Bar" is supposed to be fully working in VS 2010. In our in-house tests we haven't noticed any problems with it. So if it is not working for any of you we can safely consider it a bug.
Let's start our investigation of the problem:
1) Do you have the official Visual Studio 2010 RC?
2) Do you get any errors from JustCode/Visual Studio?
3) Does JustCode work OK except from the Info Stripe Bar? Can you try navigating with Ctrl+Left Click?
4) Is the Info Stripe Bar missing from all the open files?
5) Can you go to WINDRIVE:\Users\*USER*\AppData\Local\JustCode\Logs (Vista or 7) or WINDRIVE:\Documents and Settings\$USER$\Local Settings\JustCode\Logs and delete all logs there. Run Visual Studio 2010, open some files and send me the newly created log.

Well, I've uninstalled Justcode and then restarted VS2010 RC just to confirmed it had been removed and saw something strange  (see first attached image). I then reinstalled JustCode and I still can not see the "Info Strpe Bar" (see second attached image).

Also, the JustCode toolbar is empty (ie it has no buttons or commands within it).

In answer answer to your questions...

1) Do you have the official Visual Studio 2010 RC?
    YES

2) Do you get any errors from JustCode/Visual Studio?
    NO

3) Does JustCode work OK except from the Info Stripe Bar? Can you try navigating with Ctrl+Left Click?
    Yes -I think so  (though I dont know what you mean by navigating with Ctrl+Left click?)

4) Is the Info Stripe Bar missing from all the open files?
    Yes  (it does not appear for any .aspx, .cs, xaml files etc)

Hi i have installed VS 2010 ultimate beta 2 and i installed justcode with no errors nowhere, but when i start the VS i dont have the justcode menu and i can see where i can open it from any suggestions. here are the log files. In case it matters iam using win 7

Hi stefan,
JustCode supports only the Visual Studio 2010 RC. Beta 2 is not supported. We have a bug in the JustCode beta 2 installer that allows you to install JustCode for later version of Visual Studio 2010. This is fixed for the next version.

I looked more into your problem, but I couldn't reproduce it. I saw that you reported some other issues related to the MS Intellisense bug and I think it might cause this as well. Nevertheless, I added more verbose logging to that part of the code, so after we release the next weekly version (in the next couple of days), please try it and if you have the same problem - enable Verbose Logging in the JustCode Options, restart Visual Studio, open a few files and send me the logs again.

Hello Peter,
Can you enable verbose logging and send the logs again to us. To enable it: go to JustCode -> Options -> General and check the Enable verbose logging check box.
I saw in the screeshots that you sent us that you have a couple of other addins/extensions. Can you try temporary disable them to see if that helps.
