Started getting this error this morning - after a successful Telerik upgrade...

System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'Telerik.windows.controls.RadComboBoxAutomationPeer' to type System.Windows.Automation.Peers.SelectorAutomationPeer' at Telerik.Windows.Controls.ListBox.OnCreateAutomationPeer().....

Occurs on two RadComboBox controls that are bound to string properties (Silverlight 4.0 application).

Runtime error occurs when an item from the dropdown is selected, updates the property in the viewmodel, and then fails..

Help?  This was working just fine last week!

Hi,

Unfortunately this is a known problem in RadComboBox for Silverlight Q2 2010 SP1. We fixed it with the next internal build, so if you update the assemblies again, the problem should disappear.

I apologize for the caused inconvenience.

Kind regards,

OK.. but this bug occurs on the selection of an item from a combo box.  My first question is why was this not tested before it was released?  My second question is, how do I update the assemblies?  I checked with the extension manager - and there is no further updates available.

As my application uses this control several times as an autocomplete box, it currently is broken.  I need a solution, and quick!

Richadr

Hi,

The latest internal builds are available for download here:
http://www.telerik.com/account/downloads/internal-builds.aspx

The installation instructions are available here (please, skip the download instructions at the beginning):
http://www.telerik.com/help/silverlight/installation-installing-hotfix.html

Regarding the testing, some bugs slip from our testing department, that's why they are called bugs :) I apologize for this problem, it was not intentional and we will do our best to avoid making such stupid mistakes in the future.

Thanks for your reply.  As a software professional, I really, really do understand bugs.  My frustration however was due to the basic functionality of this control that this control provides, and was released with this bug.  Building software is hard, but we (industry as a whole) needs to ensure we keep quality at a level.  I use telerik controls because they have enhanced functionality that works, and I believe they are well constructed and tested.  This bug brings that confindence down a bit, which is very disappointing to me because I don't want to worry about it next time you have an upgrade.  Consider this constructive critisim rather than a revolt! :)

Keep up the great support.

Regards,
Richard

I tried the link you provided, but the download for silverlight 4.0 does not download a file - it yields a page no found error (link is not valid?)

Help? Do I need to roll back?

Some parts of the site are down due maintenance. Just try again after a while, I hope that everything will be online soon.

Well i to have the same issue, i just purchased the premium package, upgrade silvelright version to get away from the trial and now my combobox no longer works and the link to fix it is down. site maintance is one thing, but to block a fix to a paying cutomer is another.

When will the link be up again, this project is live in  my company and now it is broken and holding up production.

Looks like the Silverlight 3 side of the site is working, but the Silverlight 4 side of the site is not.....

Waited all day for this download, as I need to test the UI, and I can't without it failing everytime I touch a combo box!

Will the site be up tomorrow?

I need an ETA on this, or revert to the previous build - which was working for me....

Richard

How can you mark this as an answer when we still can not download the hotfix for the combobox

Well - the answer is the control is not working - the solution/workaround is what we are still waiting for.

Either way, the situation sucks.

Took me a bit to get all the reference right (where does RadPanel exist?).  I just added reference to all the Telerik Controls, and finally was able to recompile....

Thanks for the update....
