Hi,
we are a small group of developers. Some of us use windows xp and others windows vista for developing our solution. All of us use visual studio 2008 (german) and .net 3.5. On the xp-machine we have no problems with the installation of the version 1204. On the vista machine we get a error message, that the telerik add-in 'telerik OpenAccess' can't be load because of some exception, the error message is 80004005.
I need a hint to go forward. Thanks.

Hello Christian,
Is the Vista machine 64-bit? Could you provide details on that? Also please send us a stack trace of the exception if you have it.

Christian and Dimitar,
I've got it installed on two Vista x64 machines with no problems. Both have Visual Studio SP1 and, hence, .NET Framework 3.5 SP1...don't know if that makes a difference.

Hello SuperXRAY,
I'am just asking because there is possibility to be related to the OS being a 64-bit edition. Not that we had reports previously on that. Anyway if a stack trace of some kind or a log is available it will help us a lot in detecting what really happened. Thanks a lot for the information.
Sincerely yours,

Hi,
another try on another machine with vista 32bit: There are no problems to install the sutie with one exception: I got an error message with the following text:
The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file:
C:\Program Files\Telerik\OpenAccess ORM\sdk\IDEIntegrations\Microsoft Visual Studio 2005\addin\OpenAccess90.Addin.
The localization of vista and the visual studio is in both partts german.

Hello Christian,
You should proceed with the installation in "RUN AS Administrator" mode. Some parts of the installation require elevated privileges.

Hi,
okay, but there is no direct way to start an msi-file with admin privileges. I must construct a small batch-file with 1 row:
msiexec /i <path\filename>.
I think, it would be better, if Telerik use the same installation procedure for all components. And: A possibility for an easy silent rollout (with upgrading opportunities) would be nice. One of my tasks is to install the components on a small group of developer machines.

Hi Christian,
After some additional research, we found that the installer MSI file is not properly digitally signed. We expect that when that is fixed you will have a lot more smoother experience under Vista OS.

Hi you both,
Sorry to interfere in your thread, but I have had similar problems with Vista (Home premium edition) 32 bit.
The solution was to enable the internal administrator account in safe mode, since it is disabled by default. And then install OA with that account.
But, if it can be fixed in general by signing the installer correct... great then..
Regards
Henrik
